- Did you know?
A total of 276 reported pirate attacks were reported in 2005 The majority occurred in Southeast Asian waters followed by African coastal waters, India, South America and the Far East. Gun and knife use is now prevalent amongst pirates and, while some vessels are able to outmanoeuvre speedboat attacks, sailing yachts are particularly vulnerable because of their relative slow speed and low freeboard.
