Developing a legal precedent for the intelligent management of firearms.
Challenge
The use of firearms and their presence onboard ships is controversial. MAST needed to ensure that its service was lawful, proportionate to the threat and fully insured.
Solution
Following consultation with lawyers and government officials MAST established a clear methodology to allow certain firearms to be embarked on yachts. A suitable liability insurance package was also obtained and our contracts are drafted to ensure that liability is fairly apportioned.
Benefits
Through MAST, Clients can elect to embark firearms for the duration of a passage with the option of secure storage at either end in full compliance with the law. For an owner of a 52m motor yacht we exported the firearms to where the yahct was located and offloaded them in safer waters to ensure safe passage through the Indian Ocean, Gulf of Aden and the Southern Areas of the Red Sea.
